Description
The NGK 5553 (manufacturer part number BKR6ES-11) is a standard nickel-alloy copper core spark plug featuring a heat range of 6 and a factory pre-gap of 1.1mm (0.043").
While out of the box these come gapped at 0.043" for standard automotive applications, using them on a turbocharged Nissan SR20DET engine requires re-gapping the plugs tighter (typically to 0.028" – 0.030") to prevent spark blowout under boost. A heat range of 6 is generally suitable for stock or mildly modified, low-boost SR20DET setups, though higher boost or track applications may require a colder heat range (7 or 8).
